  • Michael Fox
    Partner

    Michael Fox founded Hayden Harper in 2002. As the CEO & Founder he is responsible for the overall profitability of the parent company and Hayden Harper Advisory. He began his career with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, and then worked as a Project Manager for Consolidated Planning. Mr. Fox graduated with honors from Miami University with a Management Information Systems business degree. He is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative. Mr. Fox’s family connections have also helped him develop a strong understanding of the Appalachian natural gas business and gain hands-on experience in the industry. Mr. Fox was raised in West Virginia, where his family has owned and operated oil and gas supply businesses over the course of three generations.

  • Chris Allen
    Partner

    Chris Allen joined Hayden Harper, Inc. in February 2007. As the President and COO, he oversees all operations of the company. Before joining Hayden Harper, Mr. Allen spent the previous five years in various training and organizational management roles with Boehringer Ingelheim and with a non-profit organization. Prior to that, Mr. Allen spent time in the research department at First Trust Advisors, LP, the largest independent unit investment trust sponsor in North America. In various management and analytical roles, Mr. Allen has developed the ability to organize, train, and lead teams to successful outcomes. Mr. Allen graduated cum laude from Wheaton College, IL.

  • Brett McDonough
    Partner

    Brett McDonough joined Hayden Harper, Inc. in December 2007. As the Vice President of Acquisitions for Hayden Harper Energy, he is responsible for sourcing and managing the acquisition process. Prior to joining Hayden Harper, Mr. McDonough spent over five years with Charlotte based, Allegiance Realty Corp, spending three of those years in a senior position as Director of Acquisitions. In this capacity he was responsible for leading and managing the acquisition team’s efforts in sourcing office and hotel investment properties nationwide. Mr. McDonough developed a successful track record of sourcing, analyzing, acquiring, and ultimately liquidating investments. During his career he has been intimately involved in over $600 million of private-equity placements and is a partner in numerous projects. Mr. McDonough graduated from the Rutgers School of Business with a B.S. in Finance and a Minor in Geology.

  • Charlotte Renner
    Director of Investor Relations

    Charlotte Fox Renner joined Hayden Harper, Inc. in February 2003. As our Director of Investor Relations, she is responsible for all aspects of our Hayden Harper Advisory families’ investment and accounting needs. She also oversees all client and investor needs for all other investment opportunities within the company. She manages client relationships which includes meeting with clients on a regular basis, coordinating estate planning needs, trust administration, tax planning, compliance and risk management needs, as well as managing all reporting. Mrs. Renner graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.A. in Communications with a concentration in Corporate Communications.

  • Sherri Palmer
    Office Manager

    Sherri Palmer joined Hayden Harper, Inc. in April 2007. As our Operations Manager, she assists with all operations for running our offices. Before joining Hayden Harper, Mrs. Palmer was employed for 10 years at Coca Cola Bottling Company Consolidated as Assistant to the Vice President of Cold Drink and several Directors. Prior to that, she was employed by a major bank in Texas as Assistant to the President. Mrs. Palmer has also served in Human Resources, Accounting and Banking Loans and Operations. She is a native of Ohio but has lived in Detroit and Grand Rapids, MI, Indianapolis, IN, and San Antonio, TX.

    Jim Green joined Hayden Harper in 2003. As an Independent Advisor with Hayden Harper Advisory he manages investment portfolios for high net worth individuals, foundations and trusts.   He has varied experience in the financial area including five years with Arthur Andersen & Co., where he earned his CPA certificate.  During his career he has been director of investment research for a regional investment firm, chief financial officer for a privately owned land and timber company, and a registered investment advisor with several investment firms in North Carolina. He has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Yale University and a MBA from Rutgers University.

    Adam graduated from Virginia Tech in 2000 with a BS in Finance. Upon graduating from Virginia Tech, Adam joined the Roanoke office of John Hancock Financial as an account representative. From 2001-2004, Adam worked for the SunTrust Mortgage finance department focusing on loan and branch profitability and compensation modeling. Following SunTrust, Adam spent 6 years with Edmunds White Partners, a Richmond based small and mid cap money manager, working as an analyst and portfolio manager. Adam joined Hayden Harper in 2011.

    John Teed joined Hayden Harper in 2009. As an Independent Advisor with Hayden Harper Advisory he manages individual investment portfolios. Prior to his beginning in the financial services sector in 1992 with Merrill Lynch, John was a Lieutenant in the US Army. In 2001 he launched Gaskin Teed and continues to manage the portfolio. John enjoys ultra-running, reading, playing guitar and spending time with his wife and two children. He is a graduate of Davidson College.

  • Gerry Merriam
    President

    Gerry Merriam joined Hayden Harper in 2009. He serves as the President of Hayden Harper Energy. Mr. Merriam recently retired from Linn Energy, where he was one of the three original investors. He served as Vice President of Engineering and was significantly involved in taking Linn Energy public in 2005. He directed all operations and engineering, including production, drilling, pipeline construction, economic evaluations, acquisitions, divestitures, reserves and budgets. Prior to starting Linn Energy, Mr. Merriam was the Senior Engineer of Schlumberger Holditch. Mr. Merriam also directed all operations and engineering for both North Coast Energy, Inc. (from 1999 to 2000), as Vice President of Exploration/Production, and Meridian Exploration (from 1997 to 1999), as Vice President of Operations/Engineering. From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Merriam was the Engineering Manager of Ashland Exploration, Inc., where he directed the economic evaluations of projects, acquisitions and divestitures, prepared five- year strategic plans and annual budgets and supervised reservoir engineering, civil engineering, and cross functional development teams comprised of geologists, engineers and landmen. From 1984 to 1992, Mr. Merriam served as Drilling Manager of Ashland Exploration, Inc., where he directed all drilling and completion operations. From 1980 to 1982, Mr. Merriam worked for Texaco, Inc. in Harvey, Louisiana, as Production and Drilling Engineer.

    Stephen has over ten years of wealth planning and investment management experience with private clients and is responsible for the advice and planning delivery for all advisory clients. Prior to his time with Hayden Harper, Mr. Miller served as Client Advisor for a NY metropolitan area wealth management firm where he was responsible for providing investment management, tax and estate planning for client relationships totaling over $100MM in assets. Mr. Miller graduated from Baylor University with an undergraduate degree in finance and holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst and the Certified Financial Planner designations.

    DeeDee Taylor joined Hayden Harper in June 2010. She is responsible for our oil and gas accounting and distribution process. DeeDee has over 14 years of bookkeeping experience across a number of industries. She began her career with Pitt Ohio Express, moved on as the bookkeeper for PI&I in 2000 and was most recently with Petroplus & Associates, Inc as their bookkeeper. Ms. Taylor is a native of West Virginia and loyal fan of WVU.
